As temperatures rise, it's time to enjoy a delicious and refreshing midsummer beverage that captures the essence of France! With lemons that give it the flavor of the French Riviera and lavender that transports you to the sun-kissed fields of Provence, you may well close your eyes and imagine you're in the south of France!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of fresh lemon juice (you'll need 4-6 lemons)
  • 4 cups of cold water
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of culinary lavender buds
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh lavender sprigs
  • Lemon slices

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, mix the sugar, 1 cup of water, and the culinary lavender buds. Heat the mixture over a medium heat until it is gently simmering, stirring occasionally until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and let it steep for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Strain the mixture into a pitcher and discard the lavender buds.
  3. Add the lemon juice to the pitcher with the three remaining cups of cold water and stir well.
  4. Taste the lemonade and add more sugar if needed.
  5. Leave it in the refrigerator to chill for at least 1 hour.
  6. When ready to serve, serve with ice.
  7. If you would like to add garnish, add a slice of lemon and a sprig of lavender.
  8. Sip and savor the refreshing flavors of fresh lavender lemonade - and imagine a serene summer day in the French countryside!

In 2013 I had 2 big reasons to plan a trip to France: a new grand baby boy in Avignon, and I wanted to surprise my husband with a trip to Normandy. He absolutely loves anything and everything he can find to read or watch that is related to WWII. So, I started exploring online for a custom tour designer that could put together a great itinerary for …

We had a great vacation thanks to you. Your arrangements and attention to detail were unsurpassed. We got to enjoy such a wonderful experience of France because of your little details and suggestions; things we did and saw we would never had been aware of or done if we traveled on our own itinerary or had a canned tour. Thanks so much for all of …

We really did not know what we wanted to do, nor where we wanted to go and so our planning became a moving feast, most ably supported by Emilie. How she ever put up with our …

From Bordeaux, Medoc wineries, Basque country of France and Spain, Carcassone, Dordogne, pre-historic caves, beautiful medieval towns and villages, switch-back mountain roads, sunshine, truffles, food & wine and gracious b&b hosts to final flight home, this was the trip of a lifetime! We drove over 3,200 kms with the help of our included gps and …

My husband and I just returned from two magnificent weeks in France that included four nights in Paris, four nights in the Loire Valley, two nights near Mont Saint Michel, three nights in Bayeux, near the WWII Landing Beaches and one night at a CDG airport hôtel. We stayed in charming B&Bs with equally charming hosts who recommended great places to …

Emilie is an excellent & responsive communicator. Emilie tailored our trip from reserving the rental car and the bed & breakfasts (wonderful places with wonderful hosts), setting up private …
