About 28 miles south-east of Paris on the way to Burgundy, the Chateau de Vaux le Vicomte is a magnificent castle of architectural symmetry and balance.

It's construction was ordered by Nicolas Fouquet, superintendent of the finances of King Louis XIV. The Chateau de Vaux le Vicomte is an harmonious blend of Baroque architecture, interior and landscape design.

The castle was an immense cost for the State and the extravagant parties organized for the upper-class showed the instability of the glorious French realm.

Vaux le Vicomte is difficult to reach from Paris by public transportation, so we recommend hiring a car, or if you're on one of our self-drive tours, we can include a stop there on the way to Burgundy.

Better to visit on a self-drive itinerary towards Burgundy

Laura and Emilie organized a magical trip for us. Every little touch, every recommendation, every part of the trip was absolutely perfect and made our trip even more special! We definitely plan to organize more trips with them!
